This was one of those shoots where everything was just FUN! I really enjoy playing around with lighting in all scenes, including outdoor portrait photography.
We headed under a bridge in the heart of the city — not exactly where you'd expect to find an aerial hoop performer, but that contrast was the whole point. Rough textures, rusted beams, soft fabric, and insane strength.
There were several different looks both from the performers and angles/visions from the photographers. One played with a long silk type fabric, along with the textural differences in the images between performer and background. Both performers had immense strength and stamina to manipulate the steel hoop at their will.
The second had a full costume change and a more classic pose — inverted, balanced, and framed perfectly by the beams. Industrial meets elegance. The location was a recommendation from Glen (The other photographer) and it definitely did not disappoint! Collaboration was the key in this shoot as all four participants had input on composition and position.
Whether it’s fantasy, fitness, or fine art — if you’ve got a vision, I’m game to help you bring it to life.
